Who We Serve
At Bright Shadow, we serve people navigating loss - especially where that loss intersects with outdoor adventure, natural disasters, and the power of the Earth itself.
Some of us have lost friends, partners, siblings, or children to the river, mountains, or ocean. Others have survived natural disasters and are grappling with what they witnessed, what was lost, or who didn’t make it through. Many of the people who join our retreats and workshops have never received formal mental health care, and some have never told their story out loud. That’s okay. You don’t need to be an athlete. You don’t need to be fluent in your feelings. You just need to be human.
We Are Here For:
Outdoorspeople who have lost someone - or almost lost themselves - to the pursuit they love.
Families, friends, and partners of those who have died in outdoor pursuits.
Survivors of natural disasters who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses, or a sense of safety in the wake of Nature’s power.
Those experiencing grief in its broader forms from death and divorce to unrealized dreams, estranged relationships, or sudden life shifts.
We serve those who feel unmoored by grief - and who are seeking a path back to center.
What We’re Not:
We are never here to push an ideology—political, religious, or otherwise.
We are not an elite athlete’s club.
We are not interested in telling anyone what their healing should look like.
We honor your process, at your pace.
What You Can Expect:
Every Bright Shadow experience includes:

If something in you stirred while reading this, we hope you’ll keep exploring.
This may be the place you didn’t know you were looking for.
